LA GOURMET BOX has selected Orobeio for you because it is one of the few companies to maintain a completely traditional, artisanal approach to making its hams, carefully selecting a raw material of exceptional quality: 100% pure-bred Iberian pigs fed on acorns (the famous pata negra de bellota) and reared in the wild in the extensive pastures of the Dehesa (‘pasture’) in Andalusia.

A number of factors underpin the success of this top-quality gourmet house: the Valle de los Pedroches, one of the 4 DOCs for Pata negra de Bellota, boasts a unique microclimate: hot summers, cold winters but no snow, dry during the day and damp at night, allowing for an exceptional curing and ageing process for the hams.

During the montanera (acorn-fed) months, Orobeio's pata negra is fed exclusively on bellota (the famous acorns) from centuries-old oak trees in the Dehesa pastures - one of the keys to giving the ham colour, aroma and flavour throughout the 18 months or so it takes to cure each leg. An inimitable result.

Can Grau Vell is one of a number of highly demanding micro-domains that have sprung up in Catalonia over the last few years as awareness has grown of the exceptional qualities of certain Catalan terroirs for growing vines. Since 2004, this small 3-hectare bodega at the foot of Montserrat, that fascinating massif northwest of Barcelona, has been offering us absolutely delicious wines produced by Jordi Castellvi (whose name means "wine castle" in Catalan - you can't make it up!), a passionate winegrower who cultivates his vines using sustainable agriculture methods.

The wine we've selected, Tramp 2021, is a blend of the region's 4 main grape varieties (Syrah, Grenache, Marselan and Mourvèdre). While the label may surprise you (for the record, it's an engraving of an abandoned dog, taken in by our winemaker and nicknamed Tramp for his wandering ways... The Spanish are very creative with their labels compared to our classic châteaux!), this wine will undoubtedly seduce you.

Aged for 9 months in 1,000-liter French oak barrels and 300-liter new French oak and second-wine barrels, it's a veritable fruit bomb, accompanied by silky, well-integrated tannins and a long finish. A wine for the palate! You'll be asking for more.

Tasting: A delicious accompaniment to your pata negra boxed set. Serving temperature: Serve between 16º and 18º.

Description: pork product obtained from Iberian free-range pigs, raised on the vast open woodlands of the Iberian Peninsula and fed on acorns during the final fattening stage. Highly pleasurable combination of aromas and flavours in nose and mouth. A delicacy of Spanish gastronomy!

Serving suggestions: to appreciate the full texture, aroma and flavour of this ham, it should be eaten at room temperature, never cold (between 18°C and 23°C). We recommend opening the package 20 minutes beforehand, giving the ham time to recover all of its gustatory and olfactory properties. Refrigerate once opened. DO NOT freeze.

Description: This traditional Spanish delicatessen is made from selected 100% Iberian bellota pork tenderloins (lomo). Marinated with salt and spices - including, of course, red pepper, which gives lomo au poivre rouge its coloring - and stuffed into natural casings, our lomo de bellota undergoes a drying/refining process lasting several months, giving it a very distinctive personality and taste, the hallmark of successful lomos! Cut into thin slices, it's a must for your Spanish aperitifs!

Tasting: take the product out of the fridge 20 minutes before serving to enjoy it at room temperature, then store it in its original packaging in the fridge (0-7ºC).

Noted for its texture and flavour, this premium cured sausage is made with select cuts of pata negra pork meat and lard in a natural casing, but seasoned with typical chorizo spices like paprika. The taste is absolutely amazing, and the natural drying process gives it an incomparable aroma. The perfect snack with a glass of fine red wine!

Serving suggestions: we recommend serving it in thin slices as an appetizer or snack. As it is vacuum-packed, we also recommend letting it breathe for 24 hours before serving to achieve the right colour, consistency and appearance. Once the vacuum seal is broken, remove the product from the bag. Store between 2°C and 7°C.

Description: made from select cuts of meat and pork lard, seasoned with salt, and spices, and stuffed in an all-natural casing, this cured sausage typical of Catalonia has an aroma and flavour that makes it the perfect snack or sandwich meat.

Serving suggestions: we recommend cutting it into thin, bite-sized slices and serving at room temperature. Once cut, the sausage can be refrigerated to keep it from hardening.

Description: In Spain, no gourmet snack spread is complete without a bowl of olives! We chose these Arbequina olives, one of the smallest, most exquisite varieties, because they are preserved using traditional manual techniques that maintain their intense flavour and natural properties: olives, water, salt, aromatic herbs and nothing else.

Serving suggestions: the olives are ready to eat as is and do not require refrigeration, although they should be kept in the fridge once open.

The central idea of our box is to offer you all the ingredients for a Spanish-style aperitif (or several) in one BOX. And for this, we couldn't miss pa amb tomàquet (literally, tomato bread), one of the simplest yet most famous snacks in Catalan culinary culture.

To prepare it, all you need is a high-quality organic extra-virgin olive oil and a pure tomato sauce, which you'll find in our gift box. All you'll need are slices of toasted farmhouse bread and a pinch of salt and pepper to spice things up and create this Catalan culinary institution. And, of course, add one or more slices of 100% Iberian bellota ham for even more pleasure!

Olive oil, the essential ingredient for tomato bread

For our gourmet set, we've chosen an organic extra-virgin olive oil from Extramadura in southern Spain, produced by Baeturia Organic, a reference on the Spanish gourmet market. This extra-virgin organic olive oil is ideal for preparing pa amb tomàquet: an intense yellow-green color, a sweet, very fruity flavor, without the pungency or bitterness characteristic of oils from southern Spain that makes it very pleasant to the palate, and a very high fatty acid content that makes this olive oil one of the most perfect that can be obtained in the various Spanish olive-growing areas.

To spread on the slices of bread, you'll need a dollop of fresh tomato sauce made with the finest tomatoes from the Rosara artisanal cannery in the heart of Navarre (northern Spain). It's a simple product, but essential in the making of tomato bread.
