Winery: Château Saint Martin
Provence has a long wine-growing history that begins before the arrival of the Romans and remains of this very rich past can be found on the very property of Château Saint Martin. As part of the very select club of the Crus Classés in the Côte de Provence appellation, Château de Saint Martin has almost always been passed on from mother to daughter and offers a beautiful range of delicious rosé wines.
We have chosen to magnify our Provençal aperitif with one of their great wines, the Grande Réserve 2021, a top rosé made from Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan and Syrah, which marks Provençal excellence. A clear and brilliant peachy vine colour, the nose offers floral (jasmine) and white peach and cherry notes. The palate is full and velvety, almost silky, on summer fruits with a long and very enveloping finish. We really fell in love with this well-balanced rosé which offers everything we love about a great rosé from Provence, a nice freshness but enough structure to accompany tasty Provençal appetizers!
If you never had the chance to check why Provence’s rosé have reached such a great reputation, it is time for an amazing discovery. Tasting temperature: 10-12º C
Artisan: Le Brin d'Olivier.
It's impossible to imagine a Provençal aperitif without nibbling on a few olives...here the Picholine, named after 2 Italian brothers who settled in the Gard region and invented a process to make green olives edible. It's fleshy and its flesh detaches perfectly from the stone and melts in your mouth. We love it!
Artisan-grower: Vire Vent de Provence family farm.
Raphaëlle grows her chickpeas organically on her farm and cooks them in her workshop according to a Provencal recipe. Chickpeas are her specialty, and her "Poichichade" recipe is a secret blend of AOC Haute Provence olive oil, crushed sesame, lemon juice, garlic and spices... and beautiful chickpeas, of course! Rich in vegetable proteins, this spread is naturally gluten-free and lactose-free, making it suitable for vegetarians and gourmets alike.
This "poichichade", inspired by Lebanese hummus, can be enjoyed as an aperitif on toast or with fresh vegetable sticks. A taste of the authentic!
Artisan: Biscuiterie Apiflor.
We made our way to a village called Madic, on the border between the départements of Cantal and Corrèze, where we met an artisan who makes delicious traditional biscuits in bronze moulds. Genuine goat cheese and rosemary is added to the biscuit dough for a truly unique flavour. Ideal for nibbling with a glass of wine from your gourmet box—a crisp gourmet treat!
Serving suggestion: to bring out the full flavour of these biscuits, bake them in the oven 2-3 minutes before serving.
Producer: Angèle Saveurs et Traditions.
We continue our tour of gourmet Provence with a tasty spread based on eggplant. This spread is a true natural product with ingredients straight from the South of France: eggplants, of course, enhanced with sesame cream: a creamy texture and an explosion of flavors on the palate!
Enjoy on toast or with breadsticks.
Artisan-baker: Les Mignoteries
There are lots of breadsticks, but with this crunch and taste... Very few, we can tell you. Made to the highest standards by our family-run cookie factory with all-natural, preservative-free ingredients, you're sure to enjoy nibbling them as they are or dipping them in one of our delicious spreads.
Artisan : Les Oréliades, Catrice Gourmet.
Based in Provence, in the Var region of France, Catrice Gourmet, a family-run business, produces Provençal specialties using natural products in the purest respect for local culinary tradition.
This tapenade, a classic aperitif, will take you on a journey between the garrigues and the Mediterranean shores: coarsely blended black olives with capers and anchovy cream, it's a pure delight to share on toast as an aperitif or in a puff pastry, for example.
Artisan : Le Mas d'Alice.
Peppers aren't necessarily an easy vegetable to showcase in a spreadable. In this case, Mas d'Alice has pulled off a masterstroke with the combination of peppers and hazelnuts: an explosion of flavor on the palate, and an organic one at that. We just love it!
At La Gourmet Box, we're all about thoughtful details, which is why we've tucked some surprises among these delicious Provençal products to make your feast of Provence delicacies truly memorable.

Every month, we have our new gourmet boxes tested by independent testers (we don't pay them! We just send them one of our boxes), specialized in the world of gourmet boxes, to get external opinions (we, of course, would give 10/10 every time...) and to publicize our latest gourmet baskets, because we're proud of them, and we have to play the game of criticism......) and to spread the word about our latest gourmet baskets, because we're proud of them, and we have to play the criticism game...
The results of our Provence Cru Classé aperitif box test in La Box du Mois: excellent rating!
