THE gourmet box of the gastronomy of Normandy, gourmet basket of the Manche

A Norman gourmet basket filled with products from small authentic producers of the Manche region that will take you to discover the unrivalled gastronomy of the Cotentin region, with some very nice gourmet discoveries..

La Fleur de Poire, traditional Norman aperitif, subtle marriage of pear must and calvados domfrontais AOC (17ºC, 35 cl)

pear-fleur-normandieProducer: La Cava Normande, Guesdon Family.

An old Norman adage says "100 years to grow, 100 years to produce, 100 years to die" and it applies perfectly to the traditional orchards of our small producer composed of apple and pear trees "high stem" sometimes three hundred years old of typical varieties of Domfrontais.

In addition to this unique plant heritage, our craftsman adds a recognized artisanal know-how, all the steps of elaboration of his creations based on apples and pears being done in the respect of the traditional processes: manual harvest, assembly of the varieties of fruits, distillation in their column still (specific to the terroir of Domfrontais) and ageing in oak barrels.

We propose you to discover their Fleur de Poire, an aperitif which changes a little of the cider and the perry. It is the result of the happy marriage of a selected pear must and Domfrontais AOC calvados and aged in oak barrels for 2 years or more. It is a delicious aperitif, not too sweet, which will surprise you by its freshness, its tonicity and its fruitiness.

Served chilled as an aperitif, you will enjoy it.

Aperitif crispy shortbread cookies with camembert from Normandy (120 g)

biscuits-apero-bioArtisan: Les Délices de Camille, Sandrine and Marc Dorise, producers of jams, coulis and artisanal delicacies.

How to taste Normandy without a little touch of Camembert?

Here in the form of small crunchy and tasty aperitif cakes, made by a craftsman who makes a point of working with quality local raw materials. You will tell us about it!

Fresh and smoked salmon aperitif rillettes finely flavored with fresh dill (90 g)

rillettes-saumon-artisanalesFish farmer: Maison Saint-Lô

Geoffrey, who took over the family fish farm, has developed new delicious recipes from high quality raw materials. Local fishing (when the fish do not come directly from their fish farm) and selection of the noblest parts of each fish (i.e. its flesh) are part of the secrets of Maison Saint-Lô to elaborate these homemade salmon rillettes, without coloring or preservatives, absolutely delicious. To your sandwiches!

Organic vegetable terrine of leeks simmered in Cotentin cider (100 g)

terrine-vegetale-artisanaleProducer-Artisan: Ferme Le P'tit Gris des Moulins Bio, Florence and Jean-Jacques Lucas

To continue our Norman aperitif, we propose a vegetarian spread of great finesse. When you meet a craftsman, you quickly feel (or not!) his love for good products and we were not disappointed when we tasted Florence and Jean-Jacques' recipes.

This spread where the organic leek is simmered in an organic cider is a great success: a vegetarian aperitif of great finesse guaranteed, with its affirmed Norman touch!

Tasty melting veal blanquette with brown rice and Isigny cream (375 g)

blanquette-de-veau-normandieArtisan: La Chaiseronne "Les Mitonnés Normands", Jean-Luc Blandin, butcher's shop

Here is a dish emblematic of French gastronomy made by a craftsman who works according to the rules of the art with good Normandy products, starting with Isigny cream and Normandy veal in short circuit.

Without coloring, without preservative and without gluten, you will just have to warm it up in a bain-marie directly in its jar or in the microwave for the most hurried. A little blanquette treat!

Old-fashioned jam "J'Irai revoir ma Normandie" made with apples from the orchards, caramel and raw cider made in the Manche (220 g)

confiture-de-pomme-cidre-normandieArtisan: Les Délices de Camille, Sandrine and Marc Dorise, producers of jams, coulis and artisanal delicacies.

When we went to pick up the products of our Normandy gourmet box, Marc and his team were preparing an orange jam and I was able to verify in situ why the jams of our artisan were so good!

Fresh fruits in season, slow cooking in small quantities in copper basins with a little touch of creativity and love of the well-made thing and you get a delicious jam that smells good Normandy, combining the sweetness of apple and caramel with the raw cider made in the Manche.

Le Beurré Normand, refined crunchy shortbread with good Normandy butter and almond powder (220 g)

beurré-normand-gateau-artisanalArtisan: La Maison du Biscuit, a family-owned and operated cookie factory.

A visit to the Maison du Biscuit is a must when visiting the Cotentin region. Its small, old-fashioned, but very appetizing atmosphere will surprise you as soon as you walk through the door.

You'll feel like Alice in a gourmet wonderland, starting with these cookies made with good Norman butter, of course, which will melt your taste buds!

Plain milk jam with good organic whole milk and a delicious caramel taste (130 g)

confiture-de-lait-normandieArtisan: Lait Douceur de Normandie, Stéphanie Leblond and Sylvie Philippon, mermelade makers

To finish the tasting of our Normandy box, fresh whole milk (directly from the farm), sugar and ... patience (8 to 10 hours of cooking) are the keys to obtain this delicious taste of incomparable caramel that our craftswomen, vice-champion of the World of jams 2020 SVP, have obtained after many tests.

The result is a pure delight in which the gourmet spoon in love with originality and sweetness will dive. The milk jam can be enjoyed at any time on toast, buns, pancakes, or mixed with cottage cheese, yogurt and ... according to your ideas!

Have a nice gourmet trip in Normandy in the Cotentin!
